Reading the chart. Position comes from hours played, so a server that climbs is being played more, not advertised harder. Re-sort by Last wipe or Next wipe to find a world that is fresh.
Wipes. A monthly cycle is the norm on roleplay servers, but plenty of them only refresh at the force wipe even when the table shows otherwise, so check the Next wipe column before you plan a build. Our force wipe countdown has the date.
PvE and PvP. Most of the scene runs PvE, and a few allow fighting in set zones. The tag column says which, and the server's own rules settle the rest.
Questions
What counts as a roleplay server in Rust?
Any server that runs character rules on top of the base game: shops, towns, factions, and usually a ban on killing on sight. Admins enforce it through plugins and moderation. The chart lists servers that tag themselves roleplay or put the word in their name.
Can you fight on a Rust roleplay server?
Sometimes. The majority here carry the PvE tag, which means player combat is off or restricted to set events. Others allow PvP in marked zones or during agreed hours. Read the server's rules before you build, because they vary a lot.
How does a server get onto this chart?
By being online and tagged roleplay, or by using the word in its name. Position comes from counted player hours, and nobody can buy a place. The figures refresh every five minutes, so a quiet week shows as a drop.
Do roleplay servers wipe often?
Monthly is the common pattern, but a number of servers only wipe at the force wipe and still show a monthly date. Check the Next wipe column before you commit to a base. Last wipe tells you how fresh the current world is.
The chart only picks up servers that mark themselves roleplay or say so in the name. A story-driven server that skips both will be missing, and you can find it in the full Rust server list instead.
On these servers the regulars are the draw, so sort by Rank to see who people return to. The table opens on current players, which tells you what is busy tonight rather than what lasts.
