Rank is players over the last seven days. A big server showing offline while the rest are up is that server restarting or wiping, not Rust being down.
The verdict, then the number behind it
Here is the reading. 11,879 servers are online right now, carrying 96,692 players, and that puts the network Rust servers are up for this hour of the day. We count every server on the public list and compare the total with what is usual at this time of the evening or morning. A quiet Tuesday is not an outage.
Our own count refreshes every five minutes, so you are never reading yesterday's number.
What normal looks like at this hour
Player counts follow the clock. The population builds through the European evening, holds as North America comes online, and sags in the small hours. So the test is not a fixed figure but the same hour on earlier days. When the live count sits near that line, the servers are up and the game is just being the game. When it falls well below, something upstream is wrong, and you will see it in the 48-hour chart before you see it anywhere else.
The 48-hour charts
Two days of readings sit under the verdict: total servers online and total players, hour by hour. Flat lines mean a quiet patch. A cliff means an outage, a Steam problem or a force wipe rolling through. Look for the drop, then look at the time it happened.
Are the big servers up?
Usually, yes. The largest servers are the first to show in any count and the first to recover, so if the chart is steady, the top of the rankings is up with it. If one server you play on has gone quiet while the network holds, that server is restarting, wiping or down. Its own page records when it was last seen.
When the page says up but your browser is empty
The fault is between you and Steam. Restart Steam, then Rust. Clear any region or tag filters you set weeks ago. Check whether Steam itself is down. On force wipe day, update the game before you try again. If your connection runs through a VPN or a strict firewall, turn it off and retry.
Questions
Are Rust servers down right now?
Start with the verdict at the top of the page. It is live, built from a full read of the server list every five minutes and set against the usual count for this hour. 11,879 servers are online with 96,692 players at the moment of the last reading, and Rust servers are up is our plain answer.
Why does Rust show no servers when this page says they are up?
Then the gap is on your side or Steam's, not with Rust. Restart Steam and the game, clear your server browser filters and check Steam's own status. On force wipe day, update Rust first, because servers restart one by one and your build must match.
How often does the status page update?
Every five minutes, from the same live list that feeds the player count and the rankings. The time under the verdict says when the last read landed. If that reading is more than twenty-five minutes old, the page says so rather than guessing.
