How do I know a server has the tutorial turned on?

It appears on this page, which collects servers carrying the tutorial tag or the word in their name. The tag is set by the server owner and shown on the server's own page. If a server drops the tutorial, it leaves this list at the next refresh.

Does the tutorial island count towards a server's rank?

No. Ranks come from player hours recorded on the server, and the island is a short solo session before the main map. A server's position reflects the hours logged across the week, so a busy main map carries it. The tutorial itself will not lift a quiet server up the chart.

Why are the top tutorial servers so busy?

Several large official servers keep the tutorial switched on, so their normal population shows here. Their hours are high for the same reason any popular server's are. If you want a quieter first session, sort by population in the table rather than by rank.

Will I lose my progress on the tutorial island at a wipe?

A wipe clears the map, and the island goes with it. Most servers here run monthly cycles, with fewer on weekly or biweekly. Check the Next wipe column before you start, and a server's page for its upcoming wipe estimate.
